The new Belly Freight Facility and Receiving Center is a forward-looking 90,000 sf facility highlighted by its adaptive, efficient, and sustainable vision. The landside portion of the building consists of 12 semi-trailer loading dock bays. Large overhead garage doors provide airside access for aircraft loading and unloading. The building interior is divided into separate areas for airline self-handling, screening, and provisioning, a third-party space for non-express cargo for passenger airlines, and an area for Terminal retail, concessions, and storage. Support office spaces are provided for the airline and terminal cargo functions along with government offices for the TSA and Customs and Border Protection.
Rooted in the innovative currents of Silicon Valley, the building form, texture, and materials connect directly with the airport’s high-tech design and anticipate its future expansion. Further capitalizing on efficient construction methods and various sustainable opportunities, the building is on the path to achieving LEED Silver and Net Zero Energy.
